Did you know you could take a submarine ride in the Red Sea outside of Hurghada?

Here you will find the only two submarine tours in all of Africa and the Middle East. 

This is an opportunity you don’t want to miss. After a short land transfer to the awaiting boat, we boarded and rode the 25-minute boat ride out to the barge where the submarine was docked. This submarine holds up to 44 people, and each pair of seats gets a rather large window to view the underwater world for themselves.

The submarine reaches a depth of 25 metres, and takes you along the reef. Accompanied by the submarine are a set of scuba divers that swim along side feeding the fish for you to see up close. 

While our girls can snorkel, this really opened their eyes to just what we see when we go SCUBA diving. It’s a spectacular way to view the underwater life.

We all climbed down the steps and quickly found our preassigned seats and were on our way. As soon as we started moving one of our girls spotted a small sting ray while other fish were already swimming up to the submarine. As we got submerged to the ocean floor the reef was in sight. The divers were chumming the water bringing a ton of different fish into our vision.

One tip I would suggest is to ask for a seat on either side of the submarine if going in pairs or more. It cruises the reef and then turns around returning the same path while the scuba divers feed the fish on the reef side only. If you were to have a seat on either side you would get both sides of the experience as you could lean across to view.

We hung back to be last to leave to take in the full experience. On of the captains invited us into the drivers seat to check it out. The girls were so excited to sit down at the controls.
